Catching Up

Sixteen days after my last update, at last, I have a new entry! Sorry for the unannounced hiatus. My blog went to hibernation because of school work. Only three weeks have passed since the second semester had started and I'm already tired. It seems that my professors' favorite pastime is to give their students loads of assignments, researches, projects, reports and tests. So many deadlines, procrastination is my best friend. My only consolation is that I have a better schedule now, by dusk, I'm already home (except for Tuesdays) and I've got loads of break time (two and a half hours of break every Tuesdays and Thursdays and another extra hour every Tuesdays).

Enrollment Day Disaster

This day is a big disaster, thanks to the ridiculously disorganized enrollment day. I had to wait for an unbelievable seven hours and 30 minutes just so I can proclaim myself officially enrolled for the second semester. And the big thing was more than half of that time was spent standing on a line with multitude of students around me.

I arrived at school around 7:30 in the morning. I thought that I would be the first in line. But it turned out that I was the 35th second year student who arrived there. During the first step of my enrollment was not a big fuss. I finished the first step in no time.

Wi-Fi

Haay. Naka dial-up lang ako sa bahay. Yung maingay. Yung eeeeeee grrrrrr eeeeee. Tapos failed, kaylangang ulitin ulit.

Five of my high school friends invaded our home and abused our Internet connection via wi-fi. It all started back in Saturday, when I and some of my friends in high school (a few of them where the same people who invaded our home) played badminton. I did not play much and there was nothing special with it so I will not talk more about it. After we played, we went straight to a mall here in Pampanga, despite that something had blasted in Glorietta 2 the day before that which resulted to a big accident leaving the part of Glorietta 2 where the accident happen unusable, 11 dead, and 129 others injured (Source: Wikipedia). As of the time of writing this, the investigators of the accident doubt that it was a cause of terrorism. They still don't have a concrete evidence that it was a bomb or anything of that sort that set-off this disaster.

Shampoo Commercials

Yes, it's already my sembreak. There's so much thing that I want to do, like I want to bake a peach pie, change the layout of this blog, finish watching House MD (special thanks to the piraters here in downtown San Fernando), read, write reviews of the books that I have recently finished reading, update this blog, and the list goes on but since I've mentioned about updating my blog... I have to update it.

I’ve already mentioned here that the shampoo commercials in the country looked like they were taped in other countries but it turned out that they were taped inside a studio with the usual shocking green background. Honestly speaking, I’m always fascinated with these commercials. Of course, minus the stupid jingles and the weird dance moves. Whoever created them are brilliant and it must have used all of their creative juices just to come up with these funny yet sometimes stupid commercials.

Big Brother

Once you have entered any Big Brother house, I'm sure, your wouldn't have any privacy and confidentiality, or if there is, only a little of the two. It's sad isn't? You can't do things without the others knowing it. It's a breach to everyone's right: the right to privacy. But then, to relinquish one's privacy and confidentiality is a prerequisite or a mechanic or whatever you want to call it of the reality show. Besides, the housemates have consented to relinquish their privacy and confidentiality by joining the game.

Cinderella

Let me tell you a story about my misadventures last Monday...

It was my last PE class this semester. Every single day that I have a PE class, I bring with me my PE uniform and my rubber shoes. On the morning of Monday, when I have finished preparing myself for the day, I decided to play Jak II on our PS2 console. An hour had passed and that means I had to go. But I still haven't packed my things, I was cramming. I'm not one of those students who are always tardy and I really avoid to be tardy.

Another Story About Books

Every time I bring a new book in school, my blockmates would always ask me what I am doing. Can't they see? I'm reading? Isn't obvious? And then, they would ask me what is the title of the book that I am reading. Finally, they would comment that they're not fond of reading (as if I care). I've heard those lines for the nth time! Seriously, I'm getting tired of hearing those lines all over again and again.

My Top 10 Worst Teachers

In this post, I’ll feature my worst, incompetent, illiterate, unprepared teachers in no particular order. I’m sure I have talked about some of them, but for the sake of my new readers, I’ll still add them here.

A Decision

I've decided not to run after something anymore. I'm already tired. Besides, I don't really like what I am doing. I've already had enough. My plate is already full and I don't need an extra serving. But then, if I caught up -- by accident -- with the thing that I'm supposed to be running for... why not? That would be great and I would really appreciate that.

20 Things About Blogging

Let's start...

  1. Many people use WP, but they don't know how to use it. Urgh. And oh, there is a new WP release (version 2.1.2). All users of WP are encouraged to upgrade their installation/s ASAP!

  2. Use Technorati to track your blog's current rank in the blogosphere. But keep in mind that we don't blog for rank.

  3. Google's Blog Search indexes most of the blogs in the blogosphere. Try using it if you can't find something relevant to your search in the main Google search. You can also use Technorati for searching blogs.

  4. I sometimes have a cross-post at LJ (add me), Multiply, WordPress.com, and Blogspot. These are four sites that you may want to use if you can't host your own blog.

  5. Publishing an RSS feed is very helpful to your readers.

From TV to Meters Away

This has something to do with the coming May elections here in the Philippines, you can skip this post and proceed to the previous post if you don’t feel like reading this.

Two days ago, four known people in the whole country visited my school. One is a current senator, three are senatoriables where one is an actor-slash-director-slash-politician-wanna-be.

It was Senator Mar Roxas (Mr. Palengke1) who is also one of my school’s board of trustees whom arrived first. He was in my school not because of political matters, he discussed something that I did not listen to. Lol. The way he spoke was boring to me, and the interactivity of the activity was not that good. But then, before he left, it was announced, and he even personally said that he will run for the position of Vice President in the May 2010 Elections. And by that time, I could already vote! Woot!

After ten minutes or so, Mike “‘Tol” Defensor came. Just a side note, he said that they attended a mass. After taking a look at INQ.net, I learned that they attended the mass for the birthday of Bong Pineda, a suspected gambling lord here in Pampanga. Okay, so he was there and tried to convince the whole crowd to vote for him in the coming May elections (though most of us will not vote this year).

  1. His nick, which when translated in English would be Mr. Public Market [back]

Looking Young

Finally! I've got harry07.blogspot.com!

I’m a first year college student in a known university here in Pampanga, but I don’t look like one. I always thought that I looked older for my age… I was wrong after all this time: it was the other way around. Nobody told me that I look too young until I stepped into college.

Some students and professors that I met in the university reckon that I don’t look like a seventeen years old (or shall I say young?) lad. There are times that I get agitated with this. Now, It’s not new to me if I would hear somebody ask me “Sigurado ka bang college student ka na?1” or tell me “Akala ko high school student ka pa lang.2

Flattered? Sometimes. Haha. But know what, I’m half-fortunate and half-unfortunate about this.

  1. Translation: Are you sure that you’re a college student? [back]
  2. Translation: I thought you were a high school student. [back]
